I had a case where the early steps felt easy and responsive, but the process ended abruptly right before the final interview.

Recruiter call — I spoke with a recruiter for an initial screening.
Online assessment — I completed an easy, role-related questionnaire-style module.
Hiring manager scheduling — After passing, I was set up for a final interview with the hiring manager.
Last-minute cancellation — A few days before the agreed date, I received an email telling me not to attend because they weren’t hiring anymore. Outcome: I didn’t get the offer; my takeaway is to confirm final scheduling close to the meeting date since decisions can change quickly.
