I interviewed for a Software Engineer role that included a practical programming task and a follow-up discussion on core C/C++ concepts.

Take-home/onsite coding task (script language) — I wrote a simple program (around 20 lines) in a scripting language I hadn’t used before; they provided documentation and timebox guidance.
Semi-formal technical deep dive — After the coding portion, we discussed C/C++ techniques and concepts, plus clean-code style practices.
Outcome: No offer; I felt the task was manageable but still required adapting quickly.
