I went through a smooth, multi-step process for a Software Engineer role that felt fairly straightforward over a couple weeks.

Recruiter/Screening — a brief initial screen before the first technical conversation.
Architectural interview — a deeper discussion focused on system/architecture thinking rather than obscure trivia.
Final team interview — a team-based session where they asked my questions and I could ask about the company/role. Outcome: No offer, but the process felt well-paced and friendly, with clear communication and minimal drama.
