I interviewed for a Software Engineer role in a conference-room panel that felt moderately technical—but more about explaining my approach and decision-making than coding.

In-person panel (hiring manager + HR + experienced engineer) — questions about my experience and scenarios using a structure: the situation, my solution path, and how I executed; we also discussed preferred managerial styles and my software/analysis capability, including whether I’d done calculations or design work based on different codes. Outcome: No offer; the takeaway was that I needed to clearly articulate both technical reasoning and how I drove results in real scenarios.
