Instacart Software Engineer interview experience

Got offer

Positive

I went through the process and ended up with a verbal offer outcome that felt like it came through as a leveling discussion.

The recruiter told me it was an Instacart level match that aligned with Amazon L6, even though the verbal offer was effectively for an Instacart L5 role.

They framed the compensation numbers as something that would come later, after the team match portion. The key transition for me was moving from team matching to the offer sequence, and even with the leveling details, the path was fairly clear once I reached the offer stage.
