HII Software Engineer interview experience

Newport News, VAPosted Jun 2023 · Candidate report, summarized by Dataford

My HII experience leaned conversational, with limited deep technical questioning and more focus on my background and context for joining.

Behavioral conversation — mostly discussion of prior experiences and my military background, with few highly technical prompts.
Background-fit discussion — a personable interviewer asked about my background, why I was interested, and then explained what the position entails.
Resume-based interviews over months (with offer) — my process took several months, with questions drawn mostly from my resume plus some software checks, ending in an offer.

Outcome: No offer in the first two cases, offer in the final one; takeaway: HII can run either conversational-first or longer
