I experienced an average, conversation-style screening loop for Software Engineer at HII—short, friendly, and focused on baseline engineering knowledge and my relevant work.

Short recruiter/early screen — a brief call (about 30 minutes) centered on relevant experience and fundamental engineering concepts.
Semi-technical phone interview — a senior dev and a manager asked a mix of a few technical questions and behavioral questions; there wasn’t much emphasis on LeetCode.
HR screen + manager call — first HR screen, then a ~40-minute call with the manager covering a couple behavioral prompts and experience tied to the role.

Outcome: No offer; the tone was knowledgeable and comfortable, but I didn’t move to the final stage.
