I had a technical interview that started with Java fundamentals and progressively moved into frameworks, databases, and scenario-based design questions.

Telephonic technical interview — began with Java fundamentals and logical questions, then covered collections and thread-related topics.
Technical deepening — moved into framework areas like Spring and Hibernate, plus database questions.
Scenario-based design — design questions were framed as scenarios. Outcome: No offer noted; the takeaway was that the progression from basics to design scenarios helped assess breadth, not just rote knowledge.
