I interviewed for a Software Engineer role and found the process average but with a noticeable curveball from the client.

HR/intro call — a normal call where they explained the contracting setup and the next steps.
“Technical” call with the client — directly with the client; almost immediately the client asked whether I had basic knowledge of Chinese because the client reportedly didn’t speak English well. Outcome: Not moving forward; the process felt misaligned once the technical conversation depended on basic Chinese rather than the expected language/skills.
