I went through a simple recruiter-to-manager flow with a quiz and onsite, but I felt the take-home exercise was used in a way that didn’t benefit candidates.

Recruiter conversation — Initial discussion and an offer attempt.
Manager discussion + quiz + onsite — After negotiating (countering a low offer), I continued into a quiz and onsite step.
Take-home concern — The exercise felt like it was being repurposed to improve internal processes rather than fairly evaluating me as a candidate. Outcome: No final offer and no further response after the counter; the process felt extractive and discouraging.
