I interviewed for Yelp Software Engineer and made it to a second round with engineering managers, but the experience felt unusually rushed and impersonal despite earlier progress.

Recruiter screen — initial coordination and a first conversation with recruiters.
Hackerrank / first coding stage — an earlier coding component preceded the manager-stage interviews.
Engineering manager panel (back-to-back, scripted) — a 45-minute block with multiple separate interviewers who followed a script, often repeating similar questions, with little to no small talk or warmth. Outcome: I didn’t receive an offer; the overall structure was familiar, but the manager round felt poorly run and emotionally off-putting.
