I interviewed for Yelp Software Engineer with a straightforward set of four steps—online code, recruiter call, a coding session with a senior engineer, and then a long final panel.

Online code assessment — a code test to qualify me for the next stage.
Recruiter call — a call to discuss the role and logistics.
1-hour coding assessment (senior engineer) — a live coding session focused on problem solving; the interviewer was approachable and willing to help if I got stuck.
Final panel (4 hours) — a longer multi-interview panel format where interviews were presented in an easy-to-talk-through way. Outcome: I didn’t get an offer; even though it looked lengthy, it didn’t feel especially difficult because interviewers were supportive.
