This felt almost too smooth compared to how intense other interviews can be.

I met current research faculty and flew out to visit. We talked about current and former research, and I applied to the overall program.

When I arrived for the center visit, I was told I was accepted right away. I also had a relationship with one of the faculty involved, and I was ultimately hired through him. Because I knew my advisor, he was able to lobby for increased pay, which made the whole thing feel unusually direct. Looking back, it felt very easy relative to what I expected—like timing, relationships, and fit all lined up.
