Charlottesville, VAPosted May 2015 · Candidate report, summarized by Dataford

My process felt like a full department immersion rather than a quick conversation.

I ended up giving a department seminar, then touring the labs. After that, I had a focused, about-an-hour discussion with a potential principal investigator.

The visit also included a broader tour of the University of Virginia, and we talked through the benefits package. I met other members of the department as part of the day, so it wasn’t just one-on-one evaluation—it felt like they were placing me into the environment and seeing how I came across across the group. It was clearly a difficult, high-intensity stage, and it left me feeling like the opportunity was serious and competitive.
