Before the interview itself, I was given a HackerRank online assessment.

I struggled on it—I couldn’t do much—and still received an invitation to interview. That told me the process wasn’t purely about OA performance, but the interview then focused on what I could do verbally.

The interviewer asked ML questions related to NLP, and the conversation felt friendly. Compared with the assessment, this part was more engaging and gave me room to explain how I approached ML concepts tied to natural language tasks. I didn’t end up getting an offer, but it felt like the interview content was more aligned to the role than the OA experience.
