Amherst, MAPosted Jan 2014 · Candidate report, summarized by Dataford

I responded to a professor’s email about a research project, and they emailed back to set up a meeting.

The conversation was very informal and relaxed, and the questions felt easy, not heavily structured.

They mainly wanted to know if I was interested in what I’d be studying and whether they judged I could contribute to the project. At the end of the meeting, I was told I had the position, and because I was described as the last interview, they effectively hired me immediately. The difficulty was very easy, and the overall feel was casual but decisive.
