My interview started with a short phone call where I introduced myself and talked through my background—why I wanted SIG, when I expected to graduate, and some details about my research.

What stood out was that even in the recruiter-style setting, the conversation didn’t stay purely behavioral.

I had probability questions right after the setup, including a small set of problems that were mostly probability-based. On another part of the process I experienced, the interviewer asked for two probability questions and wanted me to explain my thinking out loud. I was also able to ask for hints when I got stuck, which made it feel less like a trap and more like they were testing how I reason under uncertainty.
