My first contact was a phone screening where the employee walked me through the company and then focused mostly on my background.

The questions were about my basic story—why I ended up in computer science and how my experience connected to the role.

There wasn’t any coding or technical problem in that screening, so the format felt more like a conversation than an evaluation of algorithms. It was straightforward and low pressure, and I left feeling like I’d had a chance to communicate context.

I didn’t move forward to an offer, but the main impression was that the process started by checking fit and communication rather than technical depth right away.
