I was preparing for an upcoming design round at Salesforce for the SMTS role, and the interview process I was told to expect was low-level design followed by high-level design.

The whole thing was tied to an on-site setting in Hyderabad, and my biggest uncertainty was what they would actually want me to produce during the design conversation.

I’d specifically been trying to understand how much coding would be expected. I wondered whether they’d want complete, runnable code or whether it was more about explaining the design clearly without focusing on end-to-end implementation.

That uncertainty shaped how I thought about the round leading up to it. I didn’t have a finished outcome to share yet, but I was clearly looking at an LLD + HLD path where the “design depth”
