Salesforce Software Engineer interview experience

I was asked to write a function that validated whether a string was a properly formatted email address, checking the syntax.

The simplicity of the prompt was a little deceptive because the edge cases mattered. Even with a short interview window, the discussion was about correctness and rules rather than just getting a solution that worked for obvious cases.

I didn’t end up with an offer. Still, it was a clean test of how I handled validation logic and whether I could reason through format constraints within a tight timebox.
