For my Salesforce MTS interview, the experience started with a referral and then moved into a technical-heavy conversation where I had to cover both system design reasoning and implementation details.

I wasn’t selected in the end, but I remember the discussions being very concrete about how a real workflow would behave.

One of the topics was how and why you’d decompose a monolith into microservices, especially in the context of the Orders and Companies workflows I was involved with. We talked about making the orders flow asynchronous, including the motivation around reducing API call overhead. I also got questioned on when Kafka fits, specifically around reliability, retry-ability, and persistence.

From there, the session moved into deeper design reasoning around a notification system
