I interviewed for a Software Engineer role with an average-difficulty process that leaned heavily on a take-home build lasting a short turnaround.

Take-home test — I was instructed to build a non-company-related project with specific requirements, then submit for review.
Follow-up scope review — after submission, I discussed and was questioned on the approach taken for the required work.
Outcome: I didn’t move forward; the main takeaway for me was that they emphasized maintainable, performant, testable code and the ability to operate inside a tight timeframe.
