I interviewed for a Software Engineer role with a REST-API-focused take-home, then moved into recruiter/hiring interactions, and ultimately ended with a positive result; the technical bar felt fair.

Recruiter contact + pre-technical take-home — I was asked to complete a ~5-hour assignment to build a REST API in my language of choice.
Follow-up after the take-home (recruiter interview) — After a quick pass/fail response, I had an additional recruiter interview.
Take-home review pattern (implementation + quality focus) — In this loop, I focused on correctness and engineering hygiene like tests and improvements, and the submission was assessed after the fact.
Outcome: I received an offer, and the takeaway was that the REST-API take-home matched what I could do
