My first recruiter conversation went well enough that I expected the process to move forward, but then they called to say they had canceled the job posting.

A few days later the role reopened and they asked me to interview again, so the timeline felt a bit whiplashed.

When I finally got into the interview, I spoke with four people across two sessions. Questions felt relevant to the work, and they also explained how the role would fit into the team. The overall vibe was cooperative and not overly tense.

Separately, one other experience stood out as nearly the opposite: the interview felt unfair because I didn’t get hiring-manager context up front, and I ended up talking with engineers of the same level while one interviewer was notably hostile.
