CapTech Software Engineer interview experience

HardRichmond, VAPosted May 2014 · Candidate report, summarized by Dataford

My process started with a basic HR conversation where I discussed my career goals and also talked through my object-oriented programming background.

Then I moved into a phone-based technical interview that centered on object-oriented concepts, plus questions around a Java/J2EE framework and a few other technologies.

What stood out to me was how the technical part felt. Even though it was framed as a Java role, the questions felt noticeably off topic from what I expected to prepare for. I walked away feeling like the interview didn’t line up with the actual Java-based focus I thought I was walking into, which made the whole thing feel a bit misaligned compared to how the process began.
