What the process looks like, and what Plum is really testing for.
At Plum, the process combines a standardized technical assessment with multiple discussion rounds that reflect the role you are interviewing for. Across the reported steps, you see coding and conceptual work alongside portfolio review and interactive whiteboarding, then more consultative and leadership conversations.
What the interviews test is consistent with the topic distribution you are evaluated on: Excel and data analysis show up at the very top (percentile 100), as do DSA, whiteboarding exercises, marketing analytics, and interview process design. System design and architecture are also prominent (percentile 96), and low-level design (percentile 90) and data analysis (percentile 95, along with variants) indicate they expect you to get into implementation detail rather than only high-level ideas.
After the interviews, the loop is described as progressing through initial screening and one or more conversational and deep-dive stages, ending in a final conversation or final executive and culture fit round, then a final offer stage. One important practical note: in the aggregated candidate reports you shared, the offer rate is 0.0%, so you should assume strong competition and treat each loop stage as do-or-die rather than expecting many offers.
The single most non-obvious pattern is how prominent data and analysis are across roles: Excel (data analysis), data analysis, marketing analytics, business metrics and KPI identification all sit at the top of the topic distribution, alongside DSA and whiteboarding. Even if you are not interviewing as a data specialist, expect data reasoning to be part of what you are assessed on.
