1. What is a Project Manager at Mercury?
At Mercury, the Project Manager—often titled Staff Design Operations Program Manager—functions as the "pit crew" for the company’s design organization. Just as a racing team’s success depends on the precision of the pit lane, you are responsible for building the systems, tools, and rituals that allow a 40+ person design team to operate at peak velocity. Your work ensures that designers spend their time on creative output rather than administrative friction.
This role is both strategic and hands-on. You will define the future of Design Operations, set the AI-first strategy for the design org, and architect the "operating system" that allows the team to scale without unnecessary overhead. Because you are the primary driver of this function, you will frequently partner with executive leadership and cross-functional teams to resolve complex, ambiguous problems that directly impact how Mercury builds its banking products.
