The atmosphere of my interviews felt laid back and welcoming, almost like an ongoing conversation more than a formal interrogation.

I spoke about my background and some relevant experience, and I also got questions about why I wanted to join and how my interests aligned with the work.

In my mind, the key was that the easy-going tone didn’t mean they were skipping depth. I still had to be ready for more advanced questions depending on the PI and how the conversation evolved.

I left feeling encouraged and like I’d learned a lot from the discussions. I didn’t end up getting the offer I wanted, but the process itself felt genuinely engaging and clearer than I expected.
