I landed an easier interview path for the Research Analyst role that felt straightforward and supportive, largely driven by my outreach to a PI.

PI conversation after cold outreach — I interviewed after contacting a PI about their research; the PI used the conversation to walk me through the research itself.
Role and logistics discussion — during the same meeting, we covered salary and what I would be doing on the team. Outcome: I received the position; the takeaway was that direct communication with a PI and readiness to discuss their specific research can make the process very smooth.
