Pittsburgh, PAPosted Nov 2013 · Candidate report, summarized by Dataford

My path started with setting up a meeting with a prospective professor, and then it moved into an application process with follow-up steps.

After that, I got acceptance and then had to go through applying for funding, which added another layer after I already knew I’d been accepted.

The final stage was ironing out the terms. It all felt easier than I expected in terms of difficulty, but the timeline had multiple checkpoints—first approval, then funding, then final agreement—so it wasn’t just a quick interview and done. I didn’t end up with an offer, and the funding stage felt like the most real gate for whether things could fully lock in.
