My interview was built around the job title, and the structure matched that.

I was asked general questions in a STAR-style format, aimed at understanding how I approached past situations and work outcomes. Each lab could shape its own exact version of the interview questions, but the overall feel stayed consistent.

Because of how the department was operating, the interviews typically happened via Zoom. The questions weren’t designed to be overly technical; they were more about mapping my experience to what the role required, and that made the screening feel like a relatively straightforward first step.
