California City, CAPosted Sep 2025 · Candidate report, summarized by Dataford

My Zoom interview was built around Java fundamentals, and it started with a question about how to make a Java class immutable.

I explained it using final, but the interviewer pushed back with a more specific expectation—extending some class and still keeping immutability in its own way.

Next I was asked to explain how threads work and how they interact, including differences between concepts like .run versus sleep, and wait/notify behavior, plus the role of synchronize. I admitted when I didn’t remember some methods, but I tried to be honest and explain what I knew. Toward the end, I was also asked about collection API topics.

The interview ended with very harsh feedback and the call being closed shortly
