I started with a coding challenge plus a quiz, and then I went into a non-technical interview.

That interview mostly turned into a conversation about salary, and the interviewer tried to reduce my salary expectation as much as possible.

It was hard to reconcile that with the messaging I’d seen that suggested I’d be matched to higher-paying U.S. tech opportunities. The mismatch between how the interview conversation sounded and what I thought the process promised stood out to me immediately.

I didn’t get an offer. The lingering impression was less about my technical performance and more about the negotiation tone, which felt unexpected to me.
