Spotify Data Scientist interview experience

Candidate report, summarized by Dataford

My early Spotify steps were very technical right away.

I had a phone screen where I was asked about Python, SQL, and A/B testing, and it was clearly built to probe both coding fundamentals and the way I thought about experimentation. Later, I went through a technical round that covered Python, SQL, and statistics questions, and it felt like they were checking whether I could connect the math and reasoning to actual problem solving.

Across these stages, the pattern was consistent: I had to be comfortable with quantitative concepts and also explain them as I went. The questions weren’t framed as trivia—they pushed on how I reasoned through data
