I went through a longer, progressively challenging process that felt difficult, with questions designed to probe both my current level and fit, over multiple phases.

Progressive screening phases — My initial steps were friendly, but the questions gradually became harder to determine my level and whether my profile matched what they needed.
Targeted alignment check — The later parts emphasized whether my experience matched the competencies for the role and what I was looking for. Outcome: I didn’t receive an offer, and the takeaway was that even if the vibe is cordial, you should be ready for questions that ramp in difficulty.
