San Jose, CAPosted Jun 2020 · Candidate report, summarized by Dataford

The initial calls went fine, but the phone interview quickly went off the rails.

I was asked a problem and I tried to talk through my reasoning step by step, like I’d normally do in an engineering interview. The interviewer interrupted me and said it was fine to just give the solution after I was done.

After that, there was this long stretch where he basically sat in silence while I wrote my answer—about 20 minutes. At that point I’d already mentally checked out and realized I wasn’t interested in the position anymore. Shortly after, I emailed the recruiter to withdraw.
