My process started with an assessment that was supposed to measure critical thinking, and honestly it felt kind of disconnected from the actual role.

It was extremely easy, almost like busywork.

After that, I did an online HR-style conversation with basic, non-technical questions. The tone was friendly and I felt like I could answer comfortably, but I left surprised by the salary information that came up—it was much lower than what I expected. Then there was a more generic workplace-style conversation about what kind of environment I thrived in. Overall, the whole thing felt like a lot of fluff, not a very effective way to evaluate fit.

What stood out even more was the way the company culture was described to me through the recruiter
