My interviews started with the usual pattern—recruiter contact, then a hiring manager conversation—but the atmosphere never really warmed up.

In the manager round, the questions became a pressure test about why I was leaving my current role, and it dominated the entire time instead of feeling balanced. I wasn’t opposed to the topic itself, but the lack of variety made the session feel personal rather than evaluative.

The hiring manager energy was also a problem. I ran into scenarios where the interviewer seemed disengaged or barely present—like not fully listening—and it threw off my ability to read the room. There were moments where the process felt rushed and I didn’t get the sense that my questions were welcomed or answered
