I interviewed for Software Engineer through a difficult, lengthy process that included a full-team presentation and didn’t end where I expected on compensation.

Phone screening — A one-hour phone screen.
Onsite interviews (4–5+) — At least four or five onsite interviews stretched the process.
Presentation for the whole team + ad hoc Q&A — I had to give a PowerPoint presentation to the whole team, and during lunch the interviewer pulled a list of questions for Q&A in a restaurant.
Compensation adjustment — A lower salary was offered than what I initially discussed. Outcome: I didn’t receive an offer; the takeaway was that the process was intense and the final comp offer moved downward.
