I started with a quick recruiter call that felt friendly and pretty basic, and it gave me a good read on the role.

After that call, I genuinely felt like I was a strong match.

Next, I had a video call with the team lead who got very specific about skills. She asked more conventional strengths-and-weaknesses style questions, like you’d expect in an HR-led screen. That part felt focused and clear, and I left it feeling like we were speaking the same language.

But soon after, I received an email saying I wasn’t the right fit for the position. It was a quick pivot from feeling aligned to hearing no, and it made the final result feel abrupt.
