Opendoor Software Engineer interview experience

No offer

Hard

Negative

United StatesPosted Sep 2020 · Candidate report, summarized by Dataford

From the way the questions were designed, I ended up with a strong sense that they might not really be trying to hire someone.

I’d interviewed at several big companies and pre-IPO startups before, but this experience felt different—like the questions didn’t make sense and were mainly there to demonstrate how difficult everything was.

It created a feeling of futility rather than challenge. I didn’t move forward to an offer, and I ultimately decided it didn’t feel worth it.

The reflection I’m left with is that it didn’t feel like a normal hiring process—more like a test of frustration.
