San Francisco, CAPosted Apr 2025 · Candidate report, summarized by Dataford

I interviewed for an OpenAI Product Manager role, and while the bar felt high, the process itself was structured over several weeks.

Recruiter screen — A 30-minute call focused on my relevant product experience and fit.
Hiring manager call — A video discussion centered on how I think about product work and execution.
Take-home assignment — A roadmap optimization task that tested prioritization and trade-offs.
Onsite — Multiple conversations building on my background, with a strong emphasis on relevant experience.

Outcome: No offer, but I left with a positive impression of transparency and organization—this role felt very competitive.
