London, EnglandPosted Mar 2021 · Candidate report, summarized by Dataford

I had an interview setup where a technical interviewer and a non-technical manager reviewed me at the same time, essentially taking turns asking questions in an alternating pattern.

The questions weren’t what I expected based on my background; they seemed heavily centered on straight-from-a-textbook theory from computer science, even though they knew I didn’t have a computer science degree.

They still probed both technical and non-technical areas, but the pacing and structure made it feel like I was being tested on concepts rather than on how I’d applied them in practice. I left feeling like my experience didn’t factor into what they chose to ask as much as I’d hoped, and the end result was that I didn’t receive an offer.
