San Francisco, CAPosted Sep 2017 · Candidate report, summarized by Dataford

A recruiter emailed me a HackerRank link with three questions: two coding problems and one MySQL task, to be completed in 90 minutes.

What bothered me was that they didn’t clarify the limitations or expectations—like which languages I could use or how the questions were structured.

Because I didn’t know what to expect beyond the rough description, I felt like I was guessing at what the test was really looking for rather than preparing for a known set of constraints.

I didn’t get to an offer, and the lack of clarity around the assessment set a frustrating tone early.
