McLean, VAPosted May 2011 · Candidate report, summarized by Dataford

I interviewed for Software Engineer through one fully technical phone interview and then an onsite with a mix of project discussion and coding on a board.

Phone interview — I discussed work experience with technical focus on databases, networking, and OO concepts, plus a bit of algorithms.
Onsite round 1 (projects/challenges) — Two rounds centered on my projects, the challenges I faced, and how I approached them.
Onsite round 2 (technical + board coding) — The remaining rounds covered similar technical topics and included writing code on the board. Outcome: I didn’t receive an offer, and my takeaway was that they wanted both clear project storytelling and hands-on coding ability under observation.
