At my campus, the process started with a career fair interaction and then moved to the official interview only if I was selected there.

Career fair interview — I first had to meet them at the career fair, which functioned like an initial interview.
Official interview — if they liked you at the fair, you would be offered the actual interview; in my case I only had one round.
Outcome — no offer; I didn’t get through beyond the single round I attended. Outcome: No offer, with the takeaway that campus career fairs can act as the real first screening step.
