I was asked to complete a one-hour virtual policy report and email it when I started and when I finished.

That structure made the process feel more like a supervised assessment than a casual assignment, and it was a little different from the typical “homework you do later” format.

After I submitted, I waited almost two months to hear about a follow-up interview with the professor. The long gap was honestly the hardest part emotionally, because I didn’t have much to anchor my expectations.

I ultimately didn’t receive an offer, and what stayed with me was how the process felt slow and uncertain even after the work itself was time-bounded.
