Google DeepMind Software Engineer interview experience

Positive

LondonCandidate report, summarized by Dataford

I cleared a DeepMind interview for a software engineering role, and the feedback I received was positive.

But before everything could land, the position itself changed and was eventually canceled and replaced with something different. After a couple months, I was rejected—again with all the feedback still positive.

That made the process feel both encouraging and oddly deflating. I had done the work to get through the interviews and got confirmation that I was on track, yet the final decision wasn’t about my performance. In the end, I was left reflecting on how much external factors like role changes can override even a strong technical impression.
