Google DeepMind Software Engineer interview experience

The hardest part wasn’t just the coding itself—it felt like it leaned toward an oral-exam style of thinking, where explaining my approach mattered as much as producing the correct result.

Later I had another technical conversation with two people I would potentially work with, and the session followed a similar structure of reasoning through problems rather than racing to a quick solution. I didn’t get an offer, but I walked away feeling that confidence and clarity helped me manage the tougher questions better than I expected, even when some of the prompts felt genuinely challenging.
