Goldman Sachs Software Engineer interview experience

The recruiter interaction felt genuinely positive; the person on the call was friendly and easy to talk to.

Once I reached the engineering manager stage, the mood shifted. The engineering manager came across as overly focused on making me feel small—essentially trying to “ego” me rather than run a normal evaluation.

I understood that I might not have been a fit, but the tone felt more personal than professional. Even though the recruiter call had gone well, that later experience left a sour impression, and I didn’t get an offer.
